The first stage of the La Nucía Rally ended with a surprising turn of events. Javier Pardo and Adrian Pérez emerged as the provisional leaders of the race, with six more stages to be contested on Saturday. The day also saw the withdrawal of Iván Ares, a move that has cleared the path for Cohete Suaréz to potentially clinch the championship title tomorrow.
Pepe López holds the third position after the first day of competition. The days events set the stage for an exciting contest tomorrow, with several drivers showing promising performances and the leaderboard still very much open for changes.
Cohete Suaréz, driving a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, was the fastest driver in the Raúl Albi stage, the TC1 that opened the 29th La Nucía Rally. This performance has brought him a step closer to the championship title, with his main rival, Iván Ares, having withdrawn from the race. Suarézs performance in the first stage has set the tone for the rest of the rally, and he is expected to be a strong contender for the title.
However, the competition is far from over. With six more stages to be contested tomorrow, the race is still wide open. Other drivers, including Jan Solans and Diego Ruiloba, have also performed well, adding to the unpredictability of the race.
Diego Ruiloba, driving a Citroën C3 Rally2, was another standout performer in the first stage of the rally. He was nearly the fastest in the Vall d’Ebo-Pego stage, finishing just 0.1 seconds behind Jan Solans. In the Raúl Albi stage, Ruiloba made the scratch, reducing his gap with the leader, Suaréz, to just 1.7 seconds.
Ruilobas performance has marked him out as a strong contender in the race. However, a puncture in the sixth and final stage of the day saw him lose 2:11 minutes, a setback that could potentially affect his chances of winning the race. The second day of the rally will be crucial for Ruiloba as he seeks to recover lost ground.
Javier Pardo has emerged as a potential victor in the La Nucía Rally. After the sixth and final stage of the day, Pardo leads the provisional classification, thanks to his best time in the Xaló-Bernia stage. This performance has put him in a strong position to vie for the victory in La Nucía.
However, with six more stages to be contested tomorrow, the race is far from over. Pardo will need to maintain his performance in the remaining stages to secure his position at the top of the leaderboard. With Suaréz and López also performing well, the second day of the rally promises to be an exciting contest.
